Best Thing To Do In Nashville With Kids

When we moved from the NYC area to the Nashville area a few years ago, I happily embraced how easy it was to navigate Music City with kids. My excitement was slightly squashed though when I realized there were not nearly as many kid-friendly music venues as I had expected.

Thankfully, I discovered a music experience that is easily one of the best things to do in Nashville with kids. It’s located in the beautiful Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and I’ve recently had the opportunity to experience a number of events at this musical center that is home to the Nashville Symphony.

Offering an incredible variety of concerts ranging from Air Supply, Buddy Guy, or Bruce Hornsby, to KC & The Sunshine Band, the Nashville Symphony also welcomes kids to their concert hall.

Amazing Kid-Friendly Events

My favorite events we have attended in Nashville with kids have been the Movies at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as well as E.T. with the Nashville Symphony.

During these special movie concerts, the entire film is played on a big screen hung above the stage while the orchestra plays all of the musical moments. They’ve found a perfect balance in playing the movie at a volume that is clear but not overwhelming to little ears.

It’s beautiful to hear the Nashville Symphony play all of the movie music.

Both of my kids have enjoyed these concerts (my daughter is 5 and my son is 9) especially when the crowd gets into big movie moments with cheers and applause. I do recommend taking some treats/snacks along in case the kids get restless.

Of course, we had to bring boxes of Reese’s Pieces candy when we went to see E.T.

Explore Outside The Classroom

I truly believe in presenting learning opportunities to my kids through travel and other experiences. I appreciate any chance to explore outside the classroom. The Nashville Symphony recognizes the importance of education in the community and the joy that music can bring to kids.

In addition to the many events you can find on the concert calendar, the Nashville Symphony offers education and community engagement programs.

The Young People’s Concerts get underway in September when the Nashville Symphony works with a variety of local schools to bring in kids for free weekday morning concerts. They’re also open to homeschool students/families as well.

Taking the kids to the Nashville Symphony is easily one of the best things to do. Whether you live in the area or are visiting Nashville. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message or leave a comment. I hope you and your family are having a great summer!

I partnered with the Nashville Symphony and received complimentary tickets for a concert. This review is 100% honest and all opinions are my own. I’d like to thank the Nashville Symphony for partnering with UnboxedMom.com on this post.
