A Day as a Nurse Consultant in Smitten Scrubs

I’m sitting here in my home office with a cup of tea, reviewing my day and the time blocks I set up to accomplish various tasks. I got the kids off to school, walked the dog, and take a quick glance out the window. Does this all sounds very relaxing?

Okay, reality check.

I manage to get the kids to school (some days are more successful than others), I’ve had to reheat my cup of tea for the third time, and hopefully, I’ll get a chance to drink it this morning. I feel guilty for rushing the dog on our walk on a beautiful, warm, sunny day during this rough winter. My whiteboard was calling my name as it has six categories breaking out multiple projects that I’m working on and a few others I’m juggling.

I’m always on-the-go, and I’m happy with leggings and a tank, but it depends on what jobs I’m working on. For video conferences, consults, and working as a patient educator, I like comfortable scrubs, such as the Smitten Bliss Rockstar V-Neck I’m wearing on top, along with Smitten Bliss Flare scrub pants. This is a lightweight but durable pair of scrubs with a nice cut. The sizes run from XS – 2XL, and I’m wearing a medium but probably could’ve worn a small (especially in pants).

While I spend a lot of my time toggling between my Macbook Pro and my network desktop working on clinical content as a consultant (writing, creating graphics, images, instructional video, editing), I also travel a lot. Working as a consultant means freedom from regular shifts, but it also means that I’m always connected. It’s a tradeoff that I’ve been willing to make – even on weekends when I wish I could take a break. Consulting is a mash-up of nursing skills and critical thinking along with being resourceful, creative, a little daring, and flexible. I’m loving these Smitten Scrubs for being flexible, functional, comfortable, and durable.

The rest of my day as a nurse consultant? I’m kicking it in my Smitten Scrubs at my desk digging into multiple projects, taking some conference calls, picking my head up long enough to try and eat something, getting the kids from school, spending some time playing and getting homework done, then dinner, baths, and squeeze in some more work before bedtime.
