We realize that all our posts are usually about Jack. What he does or says, something he has learned or experienced, or just general kid stuff that is funny. We like to share regular days and special events with all of you, and realize how lucky we are.
I wanted to write a post though about a little boy that is having a much different experience day in and out. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about Ty. He is around Jack’s age and is fighting for his life.
Ty spends a lot of time at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center over the last 10 months or so, and against the odds, he continues to “beat up cancer”. Although Sloan Kettering is an amazing place and has fantastic pediatric care, I have often thought about Ty when we’ve been on a playground or at a park and thought how unfair it is that he isn’t one of those kids running around.
Ty’s mom, Cindy, went to my high school and we were on the soccer team together. She is such a sweet person. She shares updates about how Ty and her family are doing on their blog and I am continually amazed at her strength.
Tonight, she posted a video showing pics of Ty and all that he is enduring in his battle. Some people may find it tough to watch, but it shows this little guy’s spirit, will, resilience, and the love of his family. I thought I’d pass it along here. For me, it’s a reminder of what is truly important and to try not to get caught up in unnecessary silliness.
All our thoughts are with Ty and his family as he has gone through radiation, surgery, and rounds of chemo these last 2 months. SuperTy is definitely a superhero in my book.
