As you may know, Jack was a fireman last halloween, and one of his favorite shows is called Fireman Sam. We frequently have rescue missions and emergencies going on in our home…all day. Every day. 😉
Jack has asked us a bunch of times if we could go to a firehouse in the city, so we told him we’d try and visit while we were there. He brought his fireman jacket that he’s worn all year, and his FDNY hat and we went to Ladder 25 on 77th St. As soon as we introduced ourselves, they opened their door wide and were the nicest guys. They asked Jack if he’d like to sit in the firetruck, they put on the lights, they showed him the pole they slide down, they showed him their hats (which are unbelievably heavy). Such a lucky boy and we were so appreciative they took their time and were genuinely so friendly to us. Jack had a HUGE smile on his face and explained he has decided he is going to be a fireman AND policeman when he grows up. He has explained to me that the way he will do this is by working every day even on weekends. He said he will only be home on holidays. One of the guys in the firehouse pulled me aside to tell me he should definitely be a fireman rather than a cop. I agree, as if it is up to me. 🙂
When we were leaving, Jack shook their hands, and after we left he looked back and said as if he was talking to himself, “wow”. He walked away smiling that he got to meet real life hero’s.
Jack starts pre-k tomorrow, and we had to complete a get-to-know-you questionnaire. Here are his answers:

We are looking forward to the upcoming school year. We are excited about his teacher and new class, and are excited to have cooler weather and enjoy the fall. This weekend he already has a birthday party to attend for one of his pals from camp and last year’s class. Lots of fun stuff coming up soon.
