I gained a lovely home office when we relocated last summer. I know, total score. Working from home has so many benefits but it also has some distractions that I needed to get used to (primarily in the form of a very communicative and loveable 3-year-old girl). One of my goals was to combine my workspace into a functional office/arts and crafts area for the kids. I really want to be able to work on my laptop in my office but allow it to be an open and inviting place for the kids at the same time. Is that even possible? Let’s just say it is still a work in progress.
We were able to accomplish one major update that I’m happy to share: a chalkboard wall. For the kids, I wanted a big space so they draw, write, and play in an inviting area within my work Dojo. My favorite so far is watching them play school, draw shapes, and teach each other.
Each room is a work in progress but as we continue to come up with home design ideas, I love running to Pinterest to search for fantastic examples in the style we are looking to achieve. I haven’t truly invested enough time in using Pinterest, and I need to carve some time to get into that for many reasons!
I’m very pleased with our chalkboard wall in my office so far. My daughter lines up her stuffed animals and conducts an elaborate preschool class. I love that they can use their creativity in a big way and it is so much fun to watch their little minds at work. I plan to share more updates as my office comes together.
